JOAN MIRO LITHOGRAPH SERIES

Created for a book by Michel Leiris about his own art, Miró outdoes himself with this series of playful, lively prints.Ĭreated in 1972, this color lithograph is one in a series of eleven lithographs created to illustrate the text by Leiris. Filling the background with a splash of red ink, the artist encircles the star with small figures blocked out in yellow, green, blue and black. Anchored by a large blue star that almost seems to be dancing, the composition is an exuberant tribute to lithography.
